Wow, things feel intense right now, don’t they? These feel like big times. Last week, so many things were tested for me and it was a struggle to keep my breath for a moment there. So, on Saturday night, I put on 80s music, I baked a cake, brewed a chamomile and rose tea and read poetry. There was nothing for it, I needed to exhale into art; the art of cake baking, the art of tea brewing, the art of words so carefully crafted that I felt like the writer crawled into my heart and wrote my feelings onto the page. I felt restored and was able to land back in my body after a busy and overwhelming week.
About a year ago I had the idea of creating a space called Teas and Tales. I have been waiting for the details of what it might look like to really land. Now, at this time when I feel like we all need something to soothe our hearts and inspire our minds, I am clear about this offering.
And I am delighted to share that the first Teas and Tales online gathering is scheduled for Sunday February 2.
So let's sip tea and write together!
What is Teas and Tales?
Teas and Tales is a shared writing session, that I hope will feel like an exhale into art. In these big, frenetic times I wanted to create a safe, welcoming space where we can rest into words and create stories together.
The idea is that we take a moment to brew a specific tea, before the session, to accompany us as we write together. 🌱 🍵🍃
As we meet, I will ground us into the session with a short visualization, connecting us to the writing space and to our tea. I will follow this by reading a short poem (related to our tea or to the times) and then we will dive into some generative writing with short prompts. There will be space for a few people to share what they have written so that we can spend time in each other’s words (optional of course). Then I will close the session by reading a short story as we finish off our teas.
I hope you will leave feeling nourished by words, by the company of other writers and by the soothing tea.
For the first of what I hope will be regular Teas and Tales, let's start off with a comforting brew of chamomile. Make your own blend or buy tea bags ready-made. Feel free to brew up the chamomile in a tea blend with other teas. I love a rose, chamomile and lemon balm combo. ✨
Time: 2pm CT (12pm PT/3pm ET/ 8PM GMT/ 7am (Feb 3) Melbourne)
Cost: The suggested cost for Teas and Tales is $12 USD, but please feel free to pay what you can, money needn’t be a barrier for sharing this space.
I hope to see you there! 💜
BEAUTIFUL! I cannot wait!
Love! I am not able to make the first one, do you know what regularity you will hold these? Monthly, weekly?
