(I have created a sub-section of my Substack to share info about Teas and Tales. This gives readers an option to opt out of receiving Teas and Tales emails but still receive the Write As You Are emails if they choose. Although, I’d love for you to join for Teas and Tales now or in the future 🌱 🍵🍃, I understand that these offerings aren’t to everyone’s taste, so feel free to manage your subscription to Write As You Are as best works for you!)
✨✨
Today I saw a snippet of an interview with Caitlin Moran where she talks about the importance of making a space and setting a tone in our communities of how we want the world to be.
This idea is exactly why I started Teas and Tales.
The tone I wanted to create was supportive, cozy and warm…like sitting around a fire with friends reading and writing together. I wanted to create a gentle place to exhale into art and into our writing.
I was delighted that the first Teas and Tales gathering last month was exactly that. It was a nourishing, generous and fun space with everyone writing, sharing their writing, encouraging each other and, of course, sipping tea! I am always amazed how prompts can generate such diverse responses and what beautiful pieces can be created in just five minutes.
I know a lot of writers are craving community and a space to just be a writer right now. If that’s you, join for the next Teas and Tales this Sunday, March 2 @1pm CT
What is Teas and Tales?
Teas and Tales is a shared, 75 minute writing session, that I hope will feel like an exhale into art. I wanted to create a cozy, welcoming space where we can rest into words and create stories together.
The idea is that we take a moment to brew a specific tea, before the session, to accompany us as we write together. 🌱 🍵🍃
As we meet, I will ground us into the session with a short visualization, connecting us to the writing space and to our tea. I will follow this by reading a short poem (related to our tea or to the times) and then we will dive into some generative writing with short prompts. There will be space for a few people to share what they have written so that we can spend time in each other’s words (optional of course). Then I will close the session by reading a short story as we finish off our teas.
I hope you will leave feeling nourished by words, by the company of other writers and by the soothing tea.
Join for the next Teas and Tales this Sunday!

I hope to see you there! 💜
Hi Susannah, as you know I can't make this one... but I absolutely LOVED the last one and thoroughly recommend to anyone who is on the fence 👍🥰 See you next time! 😊
Have an awesome time.
I could almost have made 7pm UK time but I'll have been down with my mother - and connecting her with her grandchildren - and will be driving home, a 5 hour trip. So much as I really would need that warm cozy writing space I'll be in the car. Though when I get home I will have a cup of spiced ginger tea so close but not quite.
Maybe next time X
