I walked into an old workplace yesterday to visit and was transported by the smell to a much simpler time and I felt instantly at home.

I love smelling my grandma's perfume sometimes, who passed when I was ten years old. I don't know what she wore but now and then I feel her close.

Patchouli will make me miss my best friend.

Stale beer soaked into carpet will make me miss my youth, weirdly recalling long days sat in the pub with my sisters when my parents disappeared for hours at a time. BBQs as I walk through the neighbourhood make me homesick and I picture myself with my Dad on a Saturday afternoon preparing dinner for the family.

My favourite smell in the world is rain on a hot tar road.

"The smell of a much simpler time", I love this! Thank you for sharing all these smells. I just love how even the hint of a scent can spark so much. I feel you on the beer soaked carpet smell too. Rain on a Hot Tar Road sounds like a story or a poem to me :)

Pipe tobacco reminds me if my father when I was little, just a whiff and he is there with me 💕

That is so beautiful, how a smell can allow us time with our love ones, both those who are still in this world and those who have journeyed on. And also that it can transport you back to being little again in an instant. Thank you for sharing, Tracy!
