I love this tip so much, thank you. My space is busy and inspiring and full of creativity, but it also looks like that when I work on day job things, too, which makes it all lose its magic, quite frankly. I am going to try this out between tasks, which may even allow me to break my day up in a better way too, as I move from work to play.

I am so glad that this felt like a helpful tip. I love hearing that your space is full of creative and inspiring things (and am not surprised). I'd love to hear how you go with this, I've definitely found it makes all the different spaces clearer. :)

it's been a whole year?! wow! what is time?!

ahh thank you for this journey. space is the place! ✨ really relate to setting the scene depending on the aspect. cards to pull are always at the ready, along with sequins, stones, a glittery marabou llama pen, a rubber stamp + ink, pots of pens and paintbrushes, drawings and words blu-tac'd (what's the verb please? 🥴) to the wall, Grace Jones the rubber plant and a stack of notebooks nearby. it's not the clear desk, clear mind version, rather the comforting niblets to give me dopamine jiggles, hehe.

ooh i love NW too (and lived in the area awhile many moons ago so felt like a homecoming) 💓

Comforting niblets to give you dopamine jiggles, I love it! Thanks for this little insight, I enjoyed it! :)

I love your ritual! I just make a cup of coffee, turn on a pink salt lamp, and go to it. After reading this I’m inspired to create more of a ritual, something that clears the path as I switch from one type of writing to another. Thank you for this!

I love salt lamps! That is a beautiful way to support the energy. Does anything come to mind that might help "clear the path"? I definitely find the intentionality of my ritual helpful for that switch.

I have Palo Santo, but have not used it. I’ll give that a try to clear the path. Seems like a lovely way to do it. And maybe a five minute meditation. Hmmm…

These are great ideas. A five minute meditation sounds perfect...I might add that into the mix! Even five really focussed breaths could also help ground you into the moment, when the meditation feels too much, perhaps?

Yes, absolutely! Looking forward to adding this ritual to my writing practice. Thank you!

I can’t believe either that has been a year! I’m so happy that now you’re living in such beautiful place 🤍 (wonderfully described)

I have my own space for writing in the mornings with warm natural light. I keep black and white post cards I got from my favorite places (it wasn’t intentional to be b&w but I love it!) so I get inspired every time I sit down. I also have a vanilla cream and hazelnut cream candles for a sweet scene in the room. And, recently I got some spirit junkie card deck with quotes from Gabrielle Bernstein 💜 one for each day!

I love this! I can smell your writing space already, like a sweet shop and cafe combined :). Those cards and the postcards sound like such beautiful inspiration. What was the quote for today?

I love this clarity on how you move from the energy of one type of "work," to another. I am not a writer, rather a healer and I too, have chosen a smaller space here in Mexico. In my space I film my classes, channel, and then tuck it all away to greet clients through the computer on Zoom and in person. I love the re-creation of space each time. I do have a small separate space that is for these different forms of my work and I honor it's many ways of being conformed. Thanks for even more ideas of how to do it. 🧡

Thank you so much for sharing this, Kristina. YES, you are so right about loving the re-creating of the space each time. There is something very joyful and satisfying about it. I'm not sure there is much I can teach you about energetic space creation (I have learnt so very much from you in that regard) but I am delighted if it sparked a few ideas. :)

Oh, Susannah! This really hit home. I inhabit two worlds--one in the desert SW, the other an island in Maine. Until recently, I believed I could only truly create in the spacious island studio, for it was there my muse-mother wrote and drew. I have grown to realize inspiration flows anywhere if we choose to let it enter our lives. And voilà, I have been writing up a storm and actually cooking like a maniac in my desert kitchen/studio--a new foodletter inspired by my mom’s past career.

I love this, Amie! I think as writers we can get hung up on having the perfect space but you are right, inspiration can flow anywhere. I love that the creativity is flowing through food and words for you...the perfect combo!
